Dungeons & Dragons &

Social Communication Groups

  • Dungeons & Dragons

Dnd is a table-top role-playing game (RPG). Each member creates a character, delves into a fantasy world, and goes on adventures created by the Dungeon Master (DM).

  • How It Works

Each member signs up for 6 sessions. The group meets and agrees to rules of conduct at the beginning of each group. Each session the rules of conduct are reviewed as well as the game-play from the previous week. Then the role-playing begins.

  • Who Can Sign Up

The age range begins at late elementary school and has no limit. Groups will be made with members of the same age and abilities.

  • Role-Playing

You play a character in a fantasy world created by the Dungeon Master. You can choose a pre-made character or create your own. You can play your character as much or as little as you feel comfortable with..

  • Social Communication Stategies

Being part of the group and part of the adventuring party requires strategies. The rules are explicitly taught and reviewed every session. This is a safe space. No one will be called out or embarassed in anyway. Feedback will be given at the comfort level of the players. No one learns or can practice strategies if they feel unsafe.

  • To Join

To join, send an email. No money will be charged until an appropriate group has been arranged. Sessions can be one-on-one if that is the most appropriate for the individual.

Group rate is $25 a session

Individual rate is $75 a session

If you refer a player, you earn savings.

Meet the Dungeon Master

My name is Kate Thiboutot. I was introduced to DnD many years ago when my sister got the Starter Set for Christmas. The photo on the right is the cover of that book. Yes, I was playing in the ‘80s. DnD gave me an outlet for my imagination and many hours of fun. In 2020, I reconnected with DnD and play as often as I can.

My day job is as a speech language pathologist. I have many years of education and experience in working in the area of social communication aka social skills. While playing I realized that DnD is the perfect, natural way to practice social communication. The entire game is about turn-taking, problem solving, negotiating… Thus my program began.

The Players Handbook that started it all.
